Office of International Affairs (OIA)
Khurasan Institute of Higher Education as part of its strong commitment to improving the higher education sector of Afghanistan is taking another important step by establishing the Office of International Affairs (OIA).
Overview:
KIHE, since its establishment in 2006 as the first private university in Nangarhar, has been playing a vital role in educating the younger generations of Afghanistan in the field of Higher Education. With over 150 graduates in 4 years, KIHE has made numerous efforts including, but not limited to, providing students with an appropriate learning environment, recruiting lecturers of higher qualifications, up-dating and maintaining its curriculum with international standards with a belief in the strength of science and research. More than 90% of KIHE’s graduates are now employed at various national and international organizations and are excelling in their respective fields of management. During the past couple of years with enrollment rate increasing at the rate of approximately 60 % every year, Khurasan has gained the respect of not only the people of Afghanistan –especially eastern region, but also the trust and confidence of the Ministry of Higher Education and its international partners.
In addition to the outstanding domestic reputation and numerous achievements, KIHE in partnership with its international partners this year became a proud member of ESRUC (Eurasian Silk Road Universities Consortium) and signed its first foreign Memorandum of Agreement on bilateral cooperation with the Ataturk University in Turkey. With rising domestic fame and popularity, KIHE gives utmost importance to long-lasting cooperative relations with universities and academic institutions around the world. The establishment of OIA is an integral factor of KIHE’s struggle to forge partnerships with universities and academic institutions in every corner of the globe.
OIA Goal:
To forge and maintain long-lasting cooperative relations with universities and academic institutions all over the world
Specific Objectives:
- Scholarships for faculty members to enhance their professional and academic capacity and facilitate them to conduct joint scientific research activities with faculty members from other universities.
- Scholarships for some of our most promising students and graduates to further pursue their academic careers and master’s and PhD degree programs.
- Attend seminars, conferences and other academic events on national and international levels.
- Explore opportunities of short-term academic and cultural programs for students, management and faculty members.
- Organize seminars, conferences and other cultural and academic events at KIHE.
- Obtain academic materials and other informational sources from foreign universities.
- Maintain regular correspondence (contact) with Khurasan’s Alumni through Khurasan Alumni Association (KAA) for programs society, Alumni and KIHE interests.

Advisory Committee:
OIA’s Advisory Committee will consist of KIHE President, International Affairs Coordinator, a lecturer from every faculty and two notable alumni. Members of the committee will be meeting on a monthly basis to discuss and make decisions on key issues pertaining OIA’s activities.

University of Bath School of Management launches Afghan scholarship
The University of Bath School of Management is delighted to announce a new, fully-funded scholarship for an outstanding Afghan student to study a taught Master’s programme in the School of Management.
Ian Crawford who is behind the initiative said:
“The scholarship is a unique opportunity for an Afghan graduate from any Afghan university to
study an MSc at a world-class management school. We expect the recipient to have a desire and commitment to return to Afghanistan to help with the development of the country. In return we will provide a fully-funded exceptional educational opportunity.”
The scholarship has been awarded from the Vice-Chancellor’s Strategic Endowment Fund which has been created by gifts from the University's alumni and friends. The idea for the scholarship came about after Ian visited Kabul and talked to undergraduates and the British Council about forging links with an Afghan university.
Details of the scholarship
You are eligible to apply if you fulfil the following criteria:
You are a student who has completed a Bachelors or Master’s degree at a University in Afghanistan within the last two years
You are a citizen of and ordinarily resident in Afghanistan
You are a top graduating student with a minimum average GPA of 3.0 or above in your Bachelors and/or Master’s degree
You meet the English language requirements for entry on to the programme
You intend to return to Afghanistan on completion of your Postgraduate degree

Complete an essay of no more than 1,000 words answering the following question:-
How do you feel that your chosen MSc programme will help you with developing sustainable business opportunities in Afghanistan?

Deadline
Applications must be received by the School of Management MSc Office by 17.00 hours on 16th March 2012.
Shortlisted candidates will be notified by 23rd March and interviews will be held in country shortly afterwards.
The Scholarship includes:
The cost of a 5 or 8 week pre-sessional English Language course and full payment of International Postgraduate tuition fees.
A monthly maintenance allowance to cover all living expenses for the duration of the one-year programme of study.
All related travel expenses plus additional course related costs.
